DEEP

An app for people struggling with ADHD

A concept design for a mobile app to support individuals with ADHD in organizing daily activities, enhancing self-monitoring and tracking habits.

My Role – I performed all the project roles from “RESEARCH” to “TEST” but in some roles I had my classmates’ help and participation; Mahdiye Eskandari & Maryam Akbari

Deep is a mobile application tending to help people with ADHD to organize daily activities, experience a better form of self-monitoring and track their habits. This design is not supposed to fulfill all the difficulties of the ADHD population but it can make the process of everyday challenges much easier. This project was defined and monitored by DESIGNWICH school, where I started learning UX design and practiced the UX DESIGN process as outlined in the school’s lesson plans.

Challenge – People diagnosed with ADHD can have difficulties with aspects of learning such as staying on-task, focusing, prioritizing and organizing. They also may miss deadlines, forget meetings and social plans.
According to the advances in technology and an increase in the use of mobile apps, we decided to design an app which may help mild to moderate cases of ADHD population in managing their tasks and routines.
In this project we were asked to design a clear, minimal, straightforward task manager which can be flexible according to user’s needs as well as a focusing system to help users stay on their tasks. The main challenge was to do a deep and inclusive research to figure out the real pain points and frustrations of people struggling with ADHD and also to suggest feasible and usable features to fulfill their needs.

Approach – Learning design thinking process
In this boot camp the main approach was to practice and thoroughly learn the design thinking methods and procedures. The focus was to give us a comprehensive insight about product design and to consider three different aspects at the same time – technology, business and design- to develop a desirable idea.
We were supposed to find the problems through research and market analysis with a divergent point of view and then shift to a convergent thinking to define the main problems by using design thinking toolkits. The overall design process that we practiced during this project is as follows :

Conclusion – This mobile app design project aimed to address the challenges faced by individuals with ADHD. We tried to create a clear, minimal task manager and focusing system to help users stay organized and on track. Through thorough research and design thinking, we identified their pain points and proposed user-friendly features. Our goal was to empower individuals with ADHD to manage their tasks effectively and improve their quality of life.
